The Old Parliament house is a stunning historical building which was constructed in 1860 for the then Governor Sir George Bowen, and was also his residence. One month after it’s construction the building was deemed not suitable for parliament to meet at and a motion to build a new parliament house was passed. At this time Brisbane had not yet been decided as the capital city of Queensland and the building of the parliament house was contentious.
